Altar walked slowly out of Elemiah. In her hand, she clutched the pokeball containing her starter pokemon, Absol. She tugged at her black t-shirt, debating whether or not she should let it out. She did need to get to know it, but what if it ran away? Still, she figured it was worth the risk. A friendship with her pokemon was more important then making sure she kept them with her.
She gazed at the pokeball for a moment, before tossing it into the air. It opened, and a beam of red light emanated from inside. The light condensed into a slightly feline shape, and became solid. Then, a feline-like creature materialized before Altar. Its fur was as white as snow, set off by a pair of ruby red eyes. Large navy-blue claws adorned its paws, and a curved blade of the same color took the place of an ear and its tail. It was Altar’s Absol, a male by the look of it. Altar stared in awe for a long moment, before she dared speak.
“Hi Absol.” She said a little shyly. “I’m your new trainer.” The Absol looked at her long and hard, before nodding in an accepting way. “It’s nice to meet you.” Altar said, reaching out her had to stroke him. He seemed to like that, and it gave Altar some confidence. “I don’t think I’ll give you a name, Absol sounds cool enough.” Absol nodded proudly. “Well, let’s go find us some pokemon!” Altar exclaimed happily, trotting off through the grass, Absol at her side.

A howl.
Swarms of bug pokemon flew away at the sudden sound.
"Pooch!" A black and furry creature pounced on a giant, weed that had grown out of control over the weeks. The Poochyena, did not like weeds... or maybe it liked pouncing on the dandilion and watching the fluffy seeds fly about the air.
She was a feisty young pup, eager to go out and take on the world... literally.

Altar and Absol were slowly making there way through the grass of Elemiah Path when a large swarm of bug pokemon blew past them, rocketing away at a pretty good speed. “What the heck got into them?” Altar wondered out load. Absol shrugged, a gesture he had picked up from her. He didn’t know any more then she did. Then, Altar heard something back the way the bug pokemon had come from. She crept forward, until she spotted a small grey and black puppy up ahead. “All right, a Poochyena.” Altar whispered happily. She had wanted one back at the lab, but she loved Absol even more. Now she could have both. “Let’s go Absol! Scratch it!” She exclaimed. Absol pounced forward, paw raised, claws extended, ready to swipe at the puppy pokemon.

The Poochyena yelped, stepping back in shock.
Raising its lip in a snarl, the pokemon let out a low, warning GROWL.

Absol snarled pack at poochyena, bringing its paw down in a powerful swipe, Scratching the puppy pokemons side,
“Use Leer Absol!” Altar yelled, heart beating rapidly against her chest in excitement. It was so thrilling, trying to catch pokemon.
Absol raised himself to his full height, and leered down at the Poochyena.
Altar, hoping that would work, grabbed one of the pokeballs she had been given out of her backpack and hurled it at Poochyena. “Pokeball, go!” She shouted in a rather cliché moment.

The Poochyena swerved away, barely dodging the Scratch attack.
He growled once more, but fell silent as the dark pokemon Leered down on him.
And then... The pokeball was thrown. It let out a startled yelp as the pokeball hit its side, capturing it...
Or so it seemed.
The pokeball shook for a short time. It didn't look like he would be caught.
And then it stayed still.

For Altar time seemed to slow, as the ball shook, slower, slower, stop. Altar leapt into the air with a yell, fist pumping the air. She jumped forward, hugging Absol and dancing around happily for a moment, until she finally let go of Absol and reached down for the pokeball. I caught a “Poochyena! I caught a Poochyena!” She yelled, jumping around happily. She grinned, staring at the ball for a moment, before clipping it saftely to her belt. “We did it!” She exclaimed to Absol. Absol rolled his eyes, amused. Altar motioned for Absol to come with her, and she continued on through the grass, grinning broadly and patting the pokeball clipped to her belt.

The Poochyena who had appeared so eager to fight had been captured so easily... Surprisingly. Ah.. well.
Silence fell upon the surrounding area now that the howling pokemon had been caught. Curiously, a collection of curious wild pokemon began to come out from hiding to see what had happened.
Spearows were the first to emerge from hiding, followed by Sentret and a zigzagoon which was off sniffing at a gum wrapper on the ground.

Altar kept walking with Absol, until she noticed movement over to one side. She froze as she saw the sudden abundance of pokemon life around her. Small brown birds flew from tree to tree, cawing as they went. Small cuddly looking creatures with soft brown fur scampered through the grass, followed by another small brown pokemon with spiky fur. For a moment, Altar was stumped with a few of the pokemon’s identities, until she remembered something. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out the pokedex that she had been given by the professor, and pointed it at the various pokemon.
“Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokemon.” The pokedex beeped in an electronic sounding voice when she pointed it at the small brown birds. “Spearow has a very loud cry that can be heard over a half mile away. If its high, keening cry is heard all around, it’s a sign that they are warning each other of danger.”
“Sentret, the Scout Pokemon.” The pokedex beeped as she pointed it at one of the small brown pokemon. “When Sentret sleeps, it does so while another stands guard. The sentry wakes the others at the first sign of danger. When this Pokemon becomes separated from its pack. It becomes incapable of sleep due to fear.”
“Zigzagoon, the tinyracoon Pokemon.” It beeped as she pointed it at the spiky furred pokemon. “Rubbing its nose along the ground, it always wanders back and forth in search of something. It is distinguished by the zigzag footprints it leaves.”
Altar stared at the pokemon gathered all around, glancing over at Absol. Absol was practically jumping up and down in eagerness to attack, but Altar knew He couldn’t take them all on. There was practically a mob of pokemon all around them. She reached for the Pokeball Poochyena was in, but hesitated. She didn’t know for one whether it would obey her. Also, she had heard double battles were allowed here, but were they allowed with wild pokemon? Well, she might as well try. She unclipped Poochyena’s pokeball from her belt, and tossed it into the air. “Go Poochyena, Attack!” She yelled, throwing her pokeball. At the same instant, she motioned for Absol to go for it, which it did, racing straight at one of the Sentret.

At the sight of the Absol, Sentret let out a loud cry, warning the other pokemon of the impending danger.
Listening to the pokemon's warning, all other pokemon in the area immediatly went into hiding. However, the Sentret was one of the last to flee. To be exact, this one was a fighter. Switching to a battle stance, the pokemon waited for an opening...

Absol raced forward, heading straight for the Sentret. Behind it, red light flashed as the other pokeball sprung open, and Poochyena popped out. Poochyena gazed around for a moment, confused, until it spotted other pokemon racing of towards their respective hiding places. Instantly, she darted off after them.
Meanwhile, Absol charged in at the Sentret, attempting to slash at it with its claws, and always keeping ready to leap away from a retaliatory attack.
